Cameron Mitchell

I'm not sure if the writers or the creators of Glee will choose Cameron for Glee, but this guy is getting a fan base.

He's from Ft.Worth, Texas. And a very talented nerd who sings, plays the guitar. He says the Beatles have always inspired him.

Just 21. But if Glee isn't his true calling, I am sure we will see this guy in something. Soon. I can only hope.

Cameron reminds me a bit of actor Brett Harrison who got his start as Brad on Grounded for Life.

Cameron Mitchell's 10 Facts About Himself

  1. I’ve never written a song not about a girl.
  2. I’ve never seen any kind of play or musical production before.
  3. I enjoy sitting in my car not driving for hours listening to music.
  4. I wrote my first song only 2 years ago.
  5. I’m terrified of bees.
  6. I wore girl jeans before skinny jeans were around. Embarrassing.
  7. I always wanted to be in ‘N Sync.
  8. The first CD I ever bought was ‘N Sync’s “No Strings Attached”.
  9. If I could be one performer it would be Chris Martin from Coldplay.

Fiction Tuesday - Boyfriends with Girlfriends - a book review

I've enjoyed Alex Sanchez's works since finding Rainbow Boys. He's back with a new topic. And for those who are bi-curious, well this is the book that might get you talking with friends.

This is the story of Sergio (who's bi) getting up the nerve to met Lance (who's gay) at the mall- who met on the Internet. Yet being the insightful and wise teenagers they are, they both bring along their 'besties' which so happen to be girls. Allie, Lance's friend and Kimiko, Sergio's friend who is gay(butch but not transgender).

The story dives in, right away. Kind of superficial, yet at the same time, aren't we all just a little when we meet someone? Of course, there is attraction. On one hand I'm thinking, isn't this kind of cliche? Yet, this is a book to get you thinking about the topic of how you might feel about bi-sexuality. Chances are, you know someone who is.

Again, this book brings up the questions you might have about it. This is bringing the Kinsey report down to earth. Of course, Lance isn't sure he can trust someone who is bi? After all, isn't Sergio gay if he likes him?

I liked how the story gave a background of everyone's experiences. Yet, Sanchez weaves it all about on the page without giving gritty details, but just enough to cover the basics. So from the attraction..comes forth the other aspect of any relationship... the emotional part. Commitment issues... as well as the fear of rejection. Would it be better just to be a friend with benefits?

Sanchez covers a lot of questions through his dialogue with these four teens. Each are on different levels of knowing what love is and how their family feels about them. And then there is Allie, Lance's trusted friend who suddenly wonders if she's bi-curious.

He gives you characters that most can relate too. They aren't making bad choices in life. But there are still questions and as you read this, you'll figure out what is the most important thing in life.

Sanchez works with a lot of GSA projects and education for teens. He has a graceful way of bringing up issues that many teens face. If you love his work and his characters,  you will want this on your list to read.

BAD TEACHER - Movie review

With a title like that, you might wonder how raunchy this movie might get starring Cameron Diaz as the bad ass Miss Halsey who's methods in teaching middle scholars isn't much. Granted Elizabeth Halsey just got jilted from her rich fiance and has to come back to teaching. Yes, Diaz's character is shallow and shameless..and definitely shouldn't be teaching.

Add the unlikely cameo roommate to the list of characters played by the wonderful Eric Stonestreet from MODERN FAMILY and you aren't sure just where this movie will take you. Honestly though, It was Lucy Punch who stole the movie as the perky teacher across the hall. Her Miss Squirrel was perky and sweet yet possibly demented who steals just about everything that Miss Halsey wants.

Elizabeth: “I found him in bed with somebody else.”
Amy: “Oh my gosh.”
Elizabeth: “It was another man.”
Amy: “Shut the front door.”

And Justin Timberlake was definitely the unlikely substitute teacher. He takes his character places that I had no idea could be so hilarious. Especially, a ridiculous sex scene starring jeans. Its hard to say what makes and breaks this movie. It has a great cast. Phylliss Smith as the co-worker teacher is just a gem in the movie. John Michael Higgins always delievers as a character actor. He plays the principal. Still, I felt there just wasn't enough Jason Segel. The plot line is a bit thin. And seriously, one wonders if Diaz's character has changed.

There are plenty of funny scenes in the film. And I do have to admit I loved the quirkiness of some of the players in the movie. Especially, who Diaz's character rooms with in the cheap place she finds. Still Diaz can come off so cold and blunt. Its hard to find her likable. Unlike some of the other actors in the film. Even if you know, just how lame Timberlake's character is he still makes him true.

Some of the hottest shoes and tops ever!

I must say for a teacher in need of money Diaz wardrobe was amazing as she strutted her stuff through this movie. If you are going to this for the raunchiness of it, well, you might be dissatisfied. Still, there are some fun moments. Yet, the movie isn't going to bring you to a new level of any of these actors acting. Its somewhere in the middle. You just might want to wait for the DVD release, and even then, you might wait.

STORYLINE: A comedy centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy, begins to woo a colleague -- a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher.

Cougars, Inc. - DVD review

There was so much I disliked about this movie. For starters, the name of the movie. Argh. But this movie has ..guess who??? Kyle Gallner playing the lead.

Even so, I'm not sure what it was that made this such a Lampoonish movie. Perhaps it tries to hard and isn't sure what its really after. I wouldn't dare call it porn. Even if  perhaps it tries to go there with some of the scenes. Especially with his party animal buddies at school. I won't say the writing was entirely bad, and yet it was.

In spite of its fun little tidbit of question scenerios pieced in the chapters of the story...the movie just dragged..from the very opening scene. Perhaps there were just way too many Points of Views and it might have been something if it would have stuck with Gallner's Sam. Showed exactly, where he came from to be at this prep his last chance. It just didn't show that he had the underbelly angst of his past. He might as well have been a squeaky clean kid who gets mixed up with a woman who's in the middle of a divorce.

But of course, this is a film trying to be glossy and cool and something slick..when it obviously isn't. True, this film is made up of screen cap moments of Kyle as a guy before and after sex. And with those shots, you'd be better to create your own story than the one you have to suffer through.

Although, on one level..there is this vague theme that the physical game of sex won't out do the real thing. And yet was it the real deal when Sam met Courtney played by Sarah Hyland ? Sarah kind of comes off as a bitch. But finally they hit it off. And that other stuff about getting paid by old women (who seriously aren't all that old. No Cloris Leachman scenerio like the LAST PICTURE, these gals are model perfect!) to sleep with just a faded memory..yet in the end..comes back to haunt him. Naturally.

Honestly, I felt the movie hadn't really gotten started to the real movie I would have liked to watch..until the very end.

If you need a Kyle Gallner fix, well..go ahead. Otherwise, definitely pass this one up at your video store or Net Flix.

Blair Redford

With that kind of last name, one has to wonder..any relation to Robert Redford?

Unfortunately, no. He does come from Athens, Georgia. And he did have a so-called British accent while he was on 90210 as Oscar.

Redford actually got his start on BLUE COLLAR TV. He was also on YOUNG AND RESTLESS a few years too as Scott Grainger.

He was also Nash Rambler in the soon to be cult classic indie film DANCE OF THE DEAD.

Now you can see him as TY on SWITCHED AT BIRTH.

Bay: Why couldn’t I just be like everyone else?
Tye: Well, then what would you have to paint about?
Bay: You really do listen to me.
Ty: Yeah, I really listen. And you know what? If this whole thing hadn’t happened, we never would have met.

He also has two projects coming out with the same theme..lies. Goy is about a lie that can change the future. The other is for the pilot LYING GAMES.

Crystal Reed

You might remember her as the HOT BRUNETTE on RJ Berger before she got her wonderful role on TEEN WOLF as Scott McCAll's romantic interest, Allyson Argent.

She's also in CRAZY STUPID LOVE that's coming out soon in movie theaters.

Crystal was also in SKYLINE that was out in 2010. With that smile and the ability to make the other actor look so good, she'll definitely be finding lots in film. And she does make Tyler Posey look really good on TEEN WOLF. I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of more of Crystal Reed in the future.

Tyler (Posey) is one of the most genuine people that I’ve ever met—and I’m not just saying that because he’s in the room—but he really is. He just makes everyone feel really comfortable and he’s really loyal, which as a friend, is one of the qualities that I always look for. And he’s super sweet and funny. He’s very positive and doesn’t care about what people think… and the poor kid, he works so hard to do good and there’s long hours and he’s half naked and always freezing and he never complained once. I think that’s pretty cool.

Drew Van Acker

Possibly you have noticed the absents of  Parker Bagley as Jason (on Pretty Little Liars) Drew Van Acker is the new Jason (Alison's brother). Perhaps they wanted a more sinister type as Jason on Pretty Little Liars.

Drew was on Carton Network's Tower Prep which didn't do so well. Unfortunately. Then again, what was a teen show like that doing on Cartoon Network? Couldn't it be given a chance on some other network? Possibly MTV? Or TEENNICK. Even ABC Family? Cartoon network says on the site that the show is still on, but I'm not sure.

Doing time last year at Tower Prep!

He was also in the short lived show THE LAKE back in 2009.

He's had guest roles on CASTLE and was Parker on GREEK.

And then their are those wonderful modeling gigs he's gotten, as well.

Bradley James
Some like to think he's the love child of Bradley James and Colin Morgan. I must admit he does remind me of Bradley James.

Seriously, though..he studied drama back in high school. He also played lacrosse and soccer. He even went to Towson University on a soccer scholarship. He's coming out with the movie FORTRESS in 2012.

Definitely an actor getting the buzz this summer.

Panda Bear

Noah Lennox is Panda Bear

Panda Bear (a.k.a. Noah Lennox) is part of Animal Collective. His last CD which took years in the making Person Pitch. Panda Bear has a way of fusing acoustic and electronics together. He's also inspired by his own life. Like marriage, moving to Lisbon and becoming a father.

animal collective

“When I first started writing songs and making recordings of songs I would make little tapes,” Lennox reveals personably. “On a couple of the early tapes that I made, I drew panda bears or took images of panda bears and put them on there. I can’t remember really why, other than that they’re my favorite animal and I thought they looked cool. They were pretty easy for me to draw.” Lennox has grown light-years since those early days, both musically and personally. He has settled down and started a family in Lisbon — we missed our interview yesterday because he was out walking with his son, for which he apologized profusely, “Thank you for sticking with me, I’m really glad we get to do it today.”-Huffington Post

His latest solo project is Tomboy which came out this last April. The tracks are certainly nostalgic and endearing the way they are put together along with a 'wall of sound'. All fans will agree, you have to really listen to this CD. Some may have to keep listening to it, to really enjoy it.
“I don’t want you to describe something I’m not, i don’t want to hide the hopes that I have. I just want you to enjoy what’s meant to enjoy.”- Panda 'Last Night at the Jetty'

Panda is definitely original and unique. He pulls from the past and yet his songs represent now. Panda Bear is certainly giving the listener a lot to listen to. 50 minutes worth on this CD. He definitely puts a lot of effort in certain guitars and drums used in his arrangements. What you hear is not just some samples from electronic keyboards. Panda Bear the real deal.

I really don’t mean to complain in any way. I feel really lucky to have everything I have, but it is curious the way my life has gone considering the type of person I am. I’m very shy and reserved, so for me to have this public life as a performer is a weird thing to be doing.”-Panda Bear

Fiction Tuesday - Party - a book review

Party is Tom Leeven's first novel. Its a young adult novel about that last party of the school year to get the summer going.

What makes this story so intriguing is the series of stories that connect, in first person. It reminded me a little bit of the movie GO. Where the movie starts from one character's perspective...then something happens to that character, and the movie starts over from another character's perspective about that night.

The story starts with Beckett, who really tugs at your heart about her family situation, and how she feels invisible. This character made me want to read more of the book. She hasn't done anything at school for the last couple of years and now has decided to go to the BIG PARTY ON SHORE LINE DRIVE. Then there is Morrigan who has problems of her own with her folks, who hardly know she's there. She's also decided she wants to have sex at this party because her ex-boyfriend Josh just wouldn't. He's short, straight edged and always the designated driver. I kept thinking of Ricky Ullman in that part. But he's at the point of telling his friends he'd like to kill Morrigan.

I was trying to do the right thing, do what you said, and this is what I get?  Well you know what?  Piss. Off.”-Josh

Of course, Morrigan his hoping to get lucky with Josh's bestie, Ryan who just so happens to be a man-whore. And as  moving as Beckett's character is emotionally...Well, there is Ryan to balance it out. I have to admit, I have never read quite as funny a bedroom scene as I have.... with the predicament that Ryan gets into. He just might have second thoughts about who he wants to be with, after this party.

There is Max who has wasted most of high school pining for Beckett and he's hoping to make his move if he doesn't chicken out. Also some serious issues go down, as well, in the novel between Anthony and Azize. Was it hate crime? Or just all bad timing because of what happened to Anthony's brother and Anthony consuming alcohol....

Really, its a story of friendships between girls and guys. And its great to read how the characters react with each other and their problems. Its not a total teen angst scenario. But there is angst. Thankfully, the book ends with Ashley, who has had to put up with her best friend Morrigan's shannagans all night at the party. She is a true friend and one you'd definitely want to be your best friend because, she shows how to look out for a friend.

Possibly, this is what an American Skins should be. I enjoyed many of the voices I read through the novel. My favorite would have to be Azize, the Turkish pizza delivery boy.

Its a fun summer read. Here is more about the characters and quotes from PARTY.
